Thirty students, that included our SLPS Green Team members participated in the City of Cockburn organised ‘World Environment Day’ at Bibra Lake Wetland Centre. Students learnt about the south-western snake-necked turtles, through sensory play, and created their very own clay turtle to take home. They met a few scaly friends when they investigated the secret lives of snakes and lizards, learning about reptile conservation and snake bite first aid. Students investigated mammal habitats and survival techniques and got up close to resident mammals. They then found out what it would take to be a wildlife volunteer when they went on a behind the scenes tour of the WA Wildlife Hospital. Students returned to school brimming with information and totally inspired. It really was a unique experience for them.
